April 28th

The Frick Collection, New York, USA, recital with Huw Watkins. Watkins, Beethoven, Debussy, Knussen, Elgar.

May 8th, 10th and 11th, Honeymead Festival with the Albion Quartet

The Albion quartet present a programme named “The Art of Fugue; Voices in Dialogue”, exploring the beauty of the four equal voices of the quartet acting as one organism.

Haydn’s revolutionary Opus 20 no 5 "Sun" Quartet in the stormy key of F minor is followed by the towering Grosse Fugue opus 133 by Beethoven.

In the second half, Walton’s gorgeously romantic quartet, finished in 1947, is considered one of his masterpieces, filled with luxurious melodies and rhythmic drive, and hidden snippets of his film music
